Jimmy Chin Returns to the Big Screen for Meru 10th Anniversary Screening in Jackson Hole
JHiFF is proud to share an exciting event coming to our community. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed mountain film Meru, the Grand Teton Music Festival (GTMF) will host a special screening on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village, Wyoming.
Directed by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Meru tells the gripping true story of three elite climbers’ attempt to scale the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru, a feat that had never before been accomplished. Equal parts breathtaking and brutally honest, the film reveals the mental, physical, and emotional toll of high-stakes expedition climbing, as well as the power of perseverance and trust.
This one-night-only screening will feature a post-film Q&A with Jimmy Chin, who serves as a board member for JHiFF. It’s a rare opportunity to engage directly with a visionary filmmaker, mountaineer, and storyteller whose work continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Jimmy Chin to present this 10th anniversary screening of a film that is so beloved by our patrons and Jackson Hole community,” said GTMF Executive Director Emma Kail. “This event will help to showcase the possibilities of Walk Festival Hall as a venue for speaker presentations and film viewings, and will bring new people into our beautiful space, which recently had its 50th anniversary.”
JHiFF Executive Director Christy Fox added, “Grand Teton Music Festival’s hosting of this event offers a wonderful opportunity to unite the arts and outdoor communities here in Jackson Hole. We are honored to highlight Jimmy’s work and celebrate his contributions to film and the wider creative landscape.”
Tickets are $30 for general admission, with a $5 student rate available. Reserve your seat now at gtmf.org and don’t miss this unforgettable evening of film, conversation, and community.
