From Jackson to Hollywood: Paulinho da Costa to Receive Star on the Walk of Fame
JHiFF Board Member and The Groove Under The Groove Producer, Alan Terpins and Paulinho da Costa at JHiFF 2024.
At the Jackson Hole International Film Festival, we’ve always believed in the power of story, how it starts, where it travels, and who it touches along the way. Earlier this year, we had the honor of premiering the documentary "The Groove Under The Grove," which captures one of music’s most remarkable stories: the life and legacy of Paulinho da Costa.
We’re proud to share that Paulinho has been selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an honor bestowed by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Selection Panel. It’s a moment of well-earned recognition for an artist whose rhythms have shaped the sound of modern music and whose contributions span generations, genres, and global audiences.
To witness the premiere of his film here in Jackson—surrounded by snow-capped peaks and a community that values art with soul, was something we won’t soon forget. His story may have started in Rio and found its way to studios across the world, but for a brief and beautiful moment, it found a home here in the Tetons.
We’re thrilled to see Paulinho’s legacy honored in such an iconic way, and grateful that JHiFF was part of the journey. From the mountains to the stars, congratulations, Paulinho!
