About

High n’ Wicked and Lagrimas are proud to present “Mountains of the Moon,” a visually striking and deeply reflective film by world-renowned artist and professional skier Chris Benchetler. Blending art, sport, music, and nature, the film invites audiences into a luminous nocturnal world where the boundaries between humanity and the natural environment dissolve.

Built around the idea that without darkness we cannot see the light, “Mountains of the Moon” explores the unseen connections between life, movement, creativity, and the living earth. Set to the timeless music of the Grateful Dead and narrated by world renowned mycologist Paul Stamets, the film takes viewers on an otherworldly journey through ocean, river, and mountain landscapes.

Captured almost entirely at night, the project employs cutting-edge cinematography, lasers, animation, and projection mapping to create a visual experience unlike anything seen in action sports cinema.

With 2 special screenings March 20th and 21st, in Jackson at the Center for the Arts, featuring a live score by Ross James of the Terrapin Family Band; A Denver-based multi-instrumentalist, James is known for his work as a guitarist, bassist, pedal-steel guitarist, and singer-songwriter. From 2012 to 2024 he was a key collaborator with Phil Lesh and has performed alongside artists including Bob Weir, John Scofield, Warren Haynes, Stanley Jordan, and John Mayer.

James assembled an all-star band featuring Terrapin Crossroads veteran Scott Law, fellow Terrapin Family Band member Alex Koford, and jam-band stalwart Bill McKay.

Benchetler will also be joined by key collaborators, Treatment Studio and 4Wall Entertainment, to help bring the visual experience to life at the Center for the Arts. Treatment is known for pushing the boundaries of immersive design, experiential production, and visual storytelling, helping to create dynamic visual environments for concerts, brand activations, and live events. Most recently, Treatment and Benchetler collaborated for Dead & Company’s Las Vegas Sphere residency, on the visuals during Mickey Hart’s Drums.

“Mountains of the Moon” and this event are supported by Lyons Brown, founder of Altamar Brands and owner of High n’ Wicked and Lagrimas. Brown has built Altamar Brands around a philosophy of craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural collaboration, championing projects that bring together art, music, and adventure.

Together, all of these artists and innovators bring Mountains of the Moon to life as an immersive cinematic and musical experience celebrating creativity, connection, and the enduring power of the natural world.
